SANTA MONICA, Aug. 12. – Application by Charlie Chaplin

and Lewis Stone for mooring space in Santa Monica‘s

new yacht basin presaged more to come from motion picture

stars of the Malibu, Beverly Hills and Hollywood colonies,

city officials declared today.

Miss Janet Coates, secretary of the Public Works Department, reported receiving a check from Alfred Reeves, Chaplin‘s

manager, for space for a fifty-foot, twin-screw power cruiser,

Panacea. It was said the yacht would be listed in the

name of Paulette Goddard of 1416 North La Brea avenue,

Hollywood.

      DOHENY TO ANCHOR YACHT

The check from Stone was received  shortly after Chaplin‘s

came in, and reports from local beach homes of film

luminaries indicated that the screen folk are „going marine“

in a big way.
