„From octogenarians to kindergarten children“

Editorial content. „ALL AGES SEE

      MOVIE CIRCUS

Ascribed to the fact that more than a century of sawdust

atmosphere is included in a single performance,

all ages of circus fans, from octogenarians to kindergarten

children, are included in the throngs trooping to see

Sid Grauman‘s presentation of Charlie Chaplin‘s The Circus

in the Chinese Theater.

Visitors who number their years by the scores find

in Charlie‘s circus on the screen the little, one-ring,

horse-drawn show playing the country towns that thrilled

them in their youth. The amateurishness of those

barnstorming presentations is used by Chaplin to aid

in provoking hilarity from his audiences.“ (...)

The Circus is released by United

Artists in New York January 6, 1928.
