„Laughter they never enjoyed before“

Editorial content. „Cosmos. The big audiences that filled the

Cosmos Theater yesterday afternoon and last evening had forty minutes of laughter such as they probably had never

enjoyed before in such quick succesion and for such a length

of time in A Night in a English Music Hall, which is being

presented by the Karno English Comedy Company of fourteen

splendid farceurs.“

„The scene represents an English music hall, with boxes

lined along the sides of the stage. As the various performers – a character comedian, a magician, a singer, a ballet dancer,

and ,the terrible Turk‘ – appear, first a precocious boy and his

old uncle on one side and an intoxicated English Johnnie

on the other bring about a succession of ludicrous situations

that fairly make the audience roar with laughter. It is a

novel act from the big vaudeville circuit, and one of the best

ever presented at the Cosmos Theater.“ (...)
