„Some Good Comedy
When Charles Chaplin donned an evening suit
and surrounded himself with a large number
of props and proceeded to enact an entire picture by himself
with the aid of the props, and gave to the world his
comedy, 1 A. M., many of us were very sad, for we thought
we had lost our ,Charles.‘ I was so unhappy over it that I never
gained sufficient courage to see him in another picture,
until the loud chorus of praises that greeted The Immigrant
fell in my ears. And then I went to see it. Though a bit
vulgar in spots, it is delightfully funny. Continuous laughter
greeted nearly every foot of the film.“ (...)
