      (ESSANAY-CHAPLIN – TWO REELS)

      REVIEWED BY PETER MILNE

THE question was, could Chaplin put the funny business

over, sans the usual eccentric makeup? The question

may now be conveyed to Goldberg and listed with that gentleman‘s

formidable list of foolish ones, for Chaplin with or

without is the same Charlie. Any clothes on Charlie serve

to cover a multitude of laughs, which duly uncover

themselves as the picture progresses. (Editor‘s note: The clothes

remain intact.)

A NIGHT IN THE SHOW (Essanay), Nov. 15. – This two-reel Chaplin, which is founded on the well-known

clothes in the dress circle and a rowdy in the gallery.

„And it undoubtedly drew big crowds“

Editorial content. „Features Popular at Tennessee Houses.

The Majestic, No. 2, of Memphis, Tenn., recently

featured the Essanay production of Charles Chaplin in the

comedy playlet, A Night in the Show. This picture was

so different from most of the appearances of the famous comedy

artist that it was the subject of a great deal of comment.

It was said that the picture was the best one of its kind ever seen

at the theater, and it undoubtedly drew big crowds.“
