& A NIGHT LETTER
from Ring Lardner
Tuscon, Ariz., March 20 (Special.) – After quite an argument between the city council and a committee
of citizens and the owner of the local motion picture theatre,
the last named has been permitted to show The Birth
of a Nation in Tuscon for one week as advertised. The committee
of citizens was afraid the picture might stir up racial
feeling and the council members were inclined to agree, but
changed their minds when the proprietor of the theater
gave them a preview. Personally, I think I will save my spending
money for Charlie Chaplin in The Pawnshop, or perhaps
the first installment of The Perils of Pauline.
