„Spasms of unrestrained laughter“
Editorial content. „Chaplin FILM,
PROLOGUE HITS
Novel features of Sid Grauman‘s presentation of Charlie
Chaplin‘s The Circus, at the Chinese Theater, and
the forecourt menagerie and sideshow continue to interest
theatergoers.
In the light of the reception given by the first-night
audience, including Hollywood‘s most famous
stars, the combination of the prologue spectacle, Ballyhoo,
and the Chaplin fun classic promises to be the
most popular ever staged by the theater magnate.
The artists presented on the stage include
Poodles Hanneford, ace of clowns, and his troupe of equestrian
performers; Pallenberg‘s bears; Pepito, the noted clown,
Samaroff and Sonia and their educated canines; Ed and Jenny
Rooney, trapeze artists supreme, and the Three
Freehands, noted equilibrists.
The Circus is moving audiences to spasms of unrestrained
laughter.“
Grauman‘s Chinese Theater, 6925 Hollywood Blvd., L. A.
The Circus is released by United
Artists in New York January 6, 1928.
