Stella Mayhew, appearing with the „High Jinks“
Company, at the Majestic, is being negotiated
with by the Keystone for appearing in films in that company.
Miss Mayhew says she met Charlie Chaplin for
the first time in San Francisco, just before her company came
to Los Angeles. She says Mr. Chaplin is simply a riot
in the northern city.
„Crowds of newsboys follow him about,“ she said, „and when
he arrived at the theater to see the show he was paged
by a suite of admirers. They take souvenirs, too,“ complained
Charlie. „Somebody grabbed my false mustache, the
other day, and a dear old lady tweaked a lock of hair from
my head!“
