for the first time in Boston in his very newest picture,
„Charlie Chaplin‘s Burlesque on Carmen,“ exclusively at the
Boston Theatre this week. The management of the
Boston Theatre, following its custom of presenting the features
first, has secured the exclusive rights to the first
presentation in Boston of this new Charlie Chaplin picture,
the first to be released in several months. it will
be shown at the Boston Theatre the entire week of April 17.
„Carmen,“ as burlesqued by Charlie Chaplin, is in
four parts. It is the longest Chaplin comedy ever made, and
is described as one solid hour of laughter. Chaplin
appears as Don Jose, the swashbuckling dragoon, who falls
a victim to the wiles of Carmen, the gypsy girl, only
to be in his turn jilted by her for a toreador. Chaplin appears
in military uniform, with sword, helmet and all the
equipment of a Spanish soldier. He eats beans with his sword,
fights a duel and performs all manner of uproariously
funny stunts.
