„Of course the tail was movable“

Editorial content. „Simplicity Stamps Displays

Made by Laurie at Midway Theatre

HERE are two more of the simple, but highly effective

lobby displays arranged by A. J. Laurie, publicity manager of the Midway theatre, Montreal.“ (...)

„Only the central portion of the display on A Dog‘s Life

is shown, carrying out one the funniest scenes in the

picture – where the dog, concealed in the star‘s trousers, beats

the drum with his tail through a hole in the selfsame

trousers. It was found impossible in the display to arrange

things so that the tail would strike the drum so

a tom-tom was substituted. Of course the tail was movable

and the drummer‘s hand worked in harmony with it.

There were cutout figures, and in the background was the cotton

frame with the decorations and lettering.“ (...)
