„A number of pre-runs in downtown theatres“
Editorial content. „Police is Third Essanay-Chaplin Release.
Police is the third of the Essanay-Chaplin quartet
of revived comedies to be released, bookings
on which are reported by the George Kleine System to be larger
than when first issued. The release date is March 29,
although there are a number of pre-runs in downtown theatres
of the larger cities for March 22.
In Police, Charlie, on being released from prison,
is exhorted by a fake minister to walk the straight and narrow.
Being hungry, Chaplin fills himself up at a fruit stand.
When he reaches for his one and only five dollar bill he finds that
the spurious parson has ,frisked‘ him. This results
in a battle with the fruit vender. And then the fun begins.“
