& NATIONAL – Charlie Chaplin proves his dramatic ability
as well as his cleverness in comedy in the latest
Essanay Chaplin comedy, „Police,“ now showing at the National.
As a robber he enters a house and loots it. Then when
the woman tells him her mother is ill, he forces his companion
in crime to quit the premises. Later he returns the rings
his companion refused to part with until forced to after a battle
with Chaplin. This part he plays straight and
adds a touch of pathos to the otherwise slap-stick work.

& NATIONAL – „Police,“ Charlie Chaplin‘s latest Essanay
production for the exhibition of his funny antics and
acrobatic fireworks will be shown at the National for only two
days more the other numbers on the bill being changed
for the last half of the week. Of course Chaplin generally occupies
the center of the stage although there are a number
of others in the cast including Edna Purviance who, in this
play, has a straight dramatic instead of a comedy part.
