Displaced Charley Chaplin

New York, Aug. 26. – The barber was talking as he wielded
his rasor. Valentino is a great actor, he thinks, but William
Farnum is greater. And who is his favorite actor of all? Harold
Lloyd. Does he think Lloyd better than Chaplin? ,I should
say!‘ he answers. ,Chaplin is always the same. Lloyd is always
different.‘

In a theatre a flash on the screen announced the
coming of Harold Lloyd in Grandma‘s Boy. Said one man to
another near me:
,I‘ll have to see that. That fellow‘s the funniest guy
in the world.‘
The other man asked him if he thought he was funnier
than Chaplin.
,He‘s got Chaplin skinned seven different ways,‘ was
the reply.

In another theatre the main title of a re-release is flashed
on the screen. It says ,Harold Lloyd in –‘ and before the
opening scene is disclosed there is a roar of applause. The only
time I have witnessed such an occurrence was on the
first night of the showing of The Three Musketeers when Doug
