England possesses a clever horse whose chief stunt

is the imitation of Charlie Chaplin. He is dressed up in the same

kind of coat, derby, vest, trousers and shoes as have

made the film comedian famous, and, swinging a cane, goes

through the same convulsing antics. The performance

is drawing large crowds to a London theatre.

the ten most uproariously funny minutes of the new Chaplin film.

audience sounded like big crested waves breaking in fury

of vague, whimsical crescendoes of delirious delight, which

into a terrific uproar – a perfect storm of uncontrollable guffaws.

      The BBC broadcasts September 26, 1925 ten minutes of the

      laughter of the „Gold Rush“ audience at the Tivoli Theatre.

      „In Britain ,The Gold Rush‘ opened at the Tivoli, Strand,

      which Chaplin had known as a music hall and

      which had recently been converted into a luxury cinema.

      It made broadcasting history.“

      So ten minutes of laughter made broadcasting history?

& $40,000 Paid for London Run of „Gold Rush“ (...)

      The new Chaplin picture, „The Gold Rush,“

is coming to the Tivoli under a pre-release contract

permitting the running of the film indefinitely, for which

$40,000 was paid.

      The Management believes there is a possibility

the picture will hold up for several months.

                                                        London, Aug. 11.

      Chaplin‘s „Gold Rush“ film is due to open

at the Tivoli Aug. 14, two days before New York officially views it.

      The opening of the Chaplin picture marks the first

of a United Artists string of films, which will be housed here

for one solid year.
