Put a Real Kick In This Chaplin

      Most managers would feel they had done their full duty

by a picture when they built a 45 foot marquise

figure. That didn‘t content Bruce Fowler and publicity director

Charles Raymond, of the Royal Theatre, Kansas City.

They made a cutout of Chaplin and jointed his legs and arms,

then hooked up a motor to give motion to these members.

His coat carried announcement of The Gold Rush. It reached

out and grabbed the crowds.

& A cutout that helped to a ten day standout

      Playing „The Gold Rush“ at the Strand

Theatre, Far Rockaway, H. C. Thomas staked out

a claim for a Chaplin cutout on a vacant lot

across the theatre. That‘s the claim notice to the right of the

cutout. Work it on any good lot.

& The newsboy badge idea adapted to a small town

      John Scanlon, of the Alhambra Theatre,

Torrington, Conn., could not afford printed badges, so he painted

his own, and while the brush was wet he did a picture of

Chaplin, which is seen in the background. It brought him in the coin.

& A Denver pram onThe God Rush“ that sold sets

      The disc wheels on this perambulator for the

Victory Theatre, Denver, are twelve feet in diameter. It was drawn

by a tiny burro led by a Chaplin impersonator.The box

on the top is not laundry. It‘s supposed to be snow from Alaska.

yesterday that Mary Pickford‘s newest film, Little

Annie Rooney, will have its premiere at that theatre.

The Mark Strand is really observing greater

movie season motto with D. W. Griffith‘s Sally of the Sawdust,

Charlie Chaplin‘s The Gold Rush and the Pickford

picture already on its schedule.“
