„Allies in provoking hilarity at the Chinese“
Editorial content. „CLOWNS OF TWO
REALMS MEET
Two of the greatest clowns in the show world have been
brought together for the first time in Sid Grauman‘s
presentation of Chaplin‘s The Circus, which is drawing
throngs to the Chinese Theater.
The fact was revealed with the formal introduction of
Charlie to Poodles Hanneford behind the scenes.
Neither had met the other until they were brought together
as allies in provoking hilarity at the Chinese.
,I never thought I would jump across the continent
to meet the king of comedians,‘ commented
Poodles, and Charlie declared: ,In filming my little
old-fashioned circus I never thought it would
be presented on the same bill with the greatest clown that
Ringling Brothers ever introduced.“
