„The spotlight of the amusement world“

Editorial content. „Hollywood Turns Out

      For Chaplin‘s Circus

      By MONROE LATHROP

IT was after the witching hour, of which the poet sings,

when the last of a happy crowd reached home this

morning from the merriest of all the premieres of the astute

showman, Sid Grauman.

The Chinese Theater in Hollywood had taken the spotlight

of the amusement world for the night and given the town

another orgy of massed celebrity, beauty, fashion, pyrotechnics

and a three-ring show packed into one.“ (...)

      Drawing. „Charlie Chaplin“

„Then it sent them away still laughing at the crazy antics

of Charlie Chaplin in his first comedy in two years,

The Circus. Today the button counters of the department

stores will have their inning.

The Circus is undeniably the funniest of Charlie‘s

output in years.“ (...)

The Circus is released by United

Artists in New York January 6, 1928.
