      Manager A. J. Simon, of the Strand Theatre, Oakland, had

all sorts of trouble recently, due to the crowds attracted

by Charlie Chaplin in his latest celluloid effusion, Shoulder Arms. When ,Si´ returned from supper he could not get into

the front of the theatre and had to climb into a window. Pretty

soon he received a telephone call to come out in front

of the theatre and help disperse the crowds, which interfered

with street car traffic, but he failed to accede to the

demand.“ (...)
