an architectural and historical landmark and the largest hall
in Los Angeles, was burned to the ground by a
fire that started a few minutes before 3 p.m. yesterday.

Wallace Reid Sues to Prevent His Name Being Used on New
Club‘s Posters. Thanksgiving Eve Affair to Be Big
Thursday afternoon Wallace Reid of the Lasky Company
started legal proceedings to prevent the use of his name
on posters being issued by the newly organized and incorporated
Hollywood Photoplayers‘ club, today the only club that
is actively doing anything. This action come as a result of the
formation of this new club which is giving the big Movie
Ball at Shrine Auditorium.“ (...)
„Mayor Woodman will also head the citizens‘ reception
committee. Charlie Murray will be the master
of ceremonies. Music will be by a twenty-piece orchestra
under the direction of Ben Laietsky. Club headquarters
will be on the stage, which will be the head of the double line
of boxes which will be occupied by society and film
people. Miss Lillian Gatlin is responsible for much of the social
atmosphere, and has won for herself the title of ,social
secretary.‘ There will be a long dance program, and a special
feature every few dances. The grand march is to be
an engineered feature, which is sure to be a success. Those
who have taken boxes already are Messrs. Ince,
Beban, Roach, Whiting, Francis Ford, Chaplin, the Static club,
Mabel Normand, Ruth Roland, J. P. McGowan, Helen
Holmes, and many others.“ (...)
