A scene from his newest play by that name“
(The film‘s name is Behind the Screen.) „which comes to the
Melbourne Sunday. Edna Purviance plays
opposite Charlie.
And now Charlie Chaplin is going to tip off all the
secrets of motion picture making. His latest comedy, fresh from
the Mutual studios where he is at work under his
$670,000 contract, is called Behind the Screen.“ (Chaplin
is working at the Lone Star Studio, Los Angeles.)
„It is said by those who have seen it to be the funniest Chaplin
In years. It is the feature of the new Melbourne
program Sunday.
This new comedy was released on November 13.
Chaplin has literally kidded the world. He has ridiculed
the officious floor walker; kidded the fireman, travestied
the policeman, made fun of the pawnbroker, burlesqued the
tramp and parodied the nobility – and this time he has
made fun of the motion picture world.
This is the first run of the film in Tacoma.“
